As a culmination of a two year partnership building and developing the event experience and production with our client Harlequins, The Sports Presentation Company (TSPC) were thrilled that Big Game 9 – Quins’ annual take-over of Twickenham Stadium – won Best Sports Event of the Year at the prestigious Sports Business Awards.
Voted for by a who’s who of industry CEOs, influencers, sports stars and major players,
the 77,500 fan favourite event – part of Harlequins’ 150th anniversary season celebrations – went up against events hosted by British Cycling, EA Sports, Premiership Rugby among other prestigious sports organisations.
Working with with Harlequins’ event teams, TSPC ran the in-stadium sports presentation, programmed the many music, content and live talent elements in order to set the atmosphere for an incredible game. Outside the stadium we also devised and delivered the interactive West Car Park FanZone that entertained 1000’s of fans with dazzling acrobatic and bike stunts, star turn interviews and a reinvigorated game of Quins Family Fortunes inspired by the popular TV game show.
Millions more rugby and sports fans were reached in the national newspapers, via international television broadcast and online through an innovative social media campaign.
Harlequins’ Big Game series prides itself on being about more than just the rugby. 8,656 tickets were sold to local rugby clubs and schools, while 577 junior supporters had the privilege to play pre-match at the Home of Rugby. Additionally £80,000 was raised on the day for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and the Harlequins Foundation.
With the recent announcement of The Sport Presentation Company renewing their Quins event production contract, the 2017-2018 season has so much more to come. #COYQ
